Tia Maria... / Angela Randazzo Tia Maria was like a distant mother to me. My mother and she were best friends when my mom came to this country and they met in college. She was a part of my life from my earliest memories; took care of me as an infant, helped raise me as a young girl, and encouraged me through my own life as I became an educator myself. I looked up to her. She was caring, humorous, and insightful. I could always count on her for support, encouragement, great stories about her and my mom, and practicing my Spanish. She was an incredible woman. My Mom and I will miss her dearly. I love you Tia. Angela (daughter of Jamile) Randazzo (Phoenix, AZ)
Teresa always put me at ease. / Mark Scardiglia Teresa always put me at ease. She might have been absent minded, but she was constantly tuned in to the people around her. And this is why she was so easy to love and so hard to be mad at... Mark Scardiglia (Falls Church, VA)
Sra. Capin was my teacher... / Courtney Fisher Sra. Capin was my teacher for my very first year at marshall. I had just moved to the area and didnt know anyone, but as soon as i stepped in her door she made me feel welcome. She always found a way to make students have fun without realizing they were learning at the same time. Although I only had her class for one year I always made an effort to pass by her class or hold a converstaion with her in the hallways, even if it was just a short hello. I graduated from Marshall a year ago and I still passed by every now and then to see how she was doing. I am going to miss her so much and although she is gone, we will all still keep her in our hearts. The lord needed another angel.
May she rest in peace Courtney Fisher (falls church, VA
Mrs. Capin was an extremely inspirational person. / Nathaly Bonilla Mrs. Capin was an extremely inspirational person. She really lit up a room and always made me feel great just to be in her presence. I have never had a teacher that I connected with as well as I did with her. Although I could not be there to grieve with those who loved and appreciated her, she is most definitely in my thoughts. I am truly sorry for her family's loss. She was an incredible person with a big heart. I will never, ever forget Maria Teresa Capin and feel blessed to have gotten the opportunity to meet her. Nathaly Bonilla (Herndon, VA)

A True Teacher. / Paulette Palacios A True Teacher. One of the various teachers that left a lasting impression. She always left a smile on my face, and always asking to see if my mom would make her infamous Chilaquiles. I remeber her excitement when i graduated, when i got into college and her support when ever i needed it. I still have a Small orange book filled with Mexican Stories. Now i truly treasure it.

while i was never actually... / Karin Hung while i was never actually one of senora capin's students, i knew her thru spanish honor society. comming into marshall, i skipped a level in spanish going straight into spanish 3 in freshman year and the following year into IB 1...and got accepted into SHS...now being NOT ONLY a totally new student (i was in private school all my life and didnt know anyone) AND the youngest student, i was TERRIBLY SHY (still kinda am but...) but the second time i met her (the first being at the induction ceremony), she gave me the biggest smile and greeted me with "HOLA KARIN"...it really really amazed and touched me that she had such warmth and remembered my name, a person she just met for a brief few minutes the other day. since then, i was bought. she always had a smile on her face, and im sure even now, she still has that same brilliance. senora capin, siempre estas en nuestros corazones..descanse en paz...i will always miss your smile, laughter, and endless love for life...im sure that if you could see us all now working so hard...you would be dancing, singing and laughing way upstairs.

Every time I saw her, I felt good about life and working with students. Teresa was kind and considerate and I will miss her always. This is such a tradegy and I send my heartfelt condolences to her family. Kim Galeano (Woodbridge, VA)
